Back to the wild river

Just before dusk. Whatever time of year, they congregate in small groups to head into town and join the massive gathering at the piers.

As if someone clicked fingers, they surge into the aerial choreography they are famous for. And just as abruptly settle down to rest. A wonderful display for us. For them, it's just a getting ready for bed routine, same as any other day.

While it feels great to have passed the 50,000 word target in this year's Nanowrimo, it feels even better to just get back to what I always do - write words on pages with a pen. Back to the wild river, then. Phew! It feels so good.

Thanks to everyone who has supported my Nano progress this month. Ax

The end is in sight I hope Annie - how many more sleeps? Its wonderful to stop and notice and be in awe of those moments when the natural world does what it does and we are privileged spectators. Go well, stay writing...

Hi Fiona. 3 or 4 if you count the one with the final midnight in it. I have a few more notebook pages to type into that total and after November I'll need to re write. (Let's talk about that another day!!!) The sky is waiting for me today, so I'll be out there soon. Thanks so much.

Hi Jeane. The beach was gorgeous tonight when the sun fell away and all the fairy lights came on. About to add a fair few notebook pages to that total. Guess I'll just keep going if the words appear!
