New look

Couldn't resist applying the new dynamic views to Inkhaven after seeing it in action on other blogs.

What do you think?

Truth is, it didn't take me long to decide to go for it. I'd say it was about 20 seconds! I'd been wondering about a new vibe for a while, but couldn't face html when the beach beckoned.

Anyway, I'm hoping this new look will encourage more browsing, both from me at other blogs and all the readers that visit mine. I'm sick of falling into that one-click one-glance in-a-rush have-no-time behaviour.

Click on the black tab at the top left side of this page where it says Magazine and you'll get a drop down menu. And if you click on Flipcard or Mosaic.......SEE!! Bring on the fun!!

do you want my honest to goodness comments?

ok - I really don't understand the embrace of dynamic views.... seriously... WHY?

dynamic views just tends to homogenise all blogs.... everything blends into a bland sea of similarity.... I LIKE that the blogs that I follow each have their own unique flavour... that when I'm directed to each of those lovely familiar places I instantly can see the unique features that lets me know I've landed where I wanted to.....

instead blogger seems to want to seduce users into some sort of nasty new housing estate - you know the place.... all the houses look the same, all the streets look the same - and pretty soon all the people end up looking the same too.

I think you can figure I'm not a fan of 'dynamic' views - I think they'd be better labelled 'blandified' views....'cause that's quite honestly what the 'new' feature does - it sucks the originality out of a place....

(ps I'm only saying this as I really think your blog as it was - was lovely...)

Hi Ronnie. Thanks for taking the time to write this. I see exactly where you're coming from. I guess I'm wanting something that might not be possible without a huge time investment and I guess I'm wanting a blog/web page that looks and acts more like the inside of my own head! So, the mosaics and magazine looks come towards that although my wonky view of the world doesn't like all the straight lines! It's a work in progress, so nothing is fixed. Thanks again. Thanks for reminding me that Inkhaven had it's own look.

I like the new templates - I find them fresh and I have every hope that the gadgets will come on board and new things we haven't seen yet - I liked your blog in magazine and the image views too - carry on! xo

Oh no I was timed out and I believe lost my comment...that hasn't happened before. This is new to me...the second blogger to embrace this format...I will keep trying to comment!

Hi Jeane. Me too. I think they offer a visual impact that might encourage readers to stay longer and find something interesting by accident. I hope some of the gadgets can come and join us! Yes - I'm sticking with this for now. Ax

Hi Mary Ann. Thanks for trying again! I had trouble leaving comments for someone earlier and thought I'd got timed out, but my original comment had laid in wait for me to return and when I tried again everything clunked along very slowly. Guess I must have been frowning at the screen!

Hi Annie - I lost two sets of comments here last night and just trying again this morning. I looked at the new and chose not to change - I prefer the single post format with big pictures and text - the other formats remind me too much of tumblr which is a visual feast but doesn't lead me in to read. So for now i won't change. This is the best of the new views I think. Oh, and good luck matching your blog to your brain - mine would be way scary!! F

Hi Fiona. Guess there's something Blogger needs to fix. Thanks for coming back! Yes, I think these formats offer more to visuals than text, but that applies to everything on screen and not just blogs. I'll be interested to see how it works for text only posts, either here or elsewhere. Blog brain matching is still in early stages. Will let you know if it ever improves!

I also miss the little pictures, friendly faces that go with the comments!

Hi Fiona. Yes - I miss those as well and the blogroll list with little those photos that always reminded me of a stamp album.

I cannot comment; 2 comments have disappeared already!

Hi Sharmon. You too. Thanks for trying again, Sorry it's not going right. Very annoying for everyone. What's the point of a blog without comments from readers? Will get the spanner out.
