Just across the street

It was warm enough to start tidying the garden without wearing a coat and hat today, and now that the ground has thawed enough, I finally planted some Spring bulbs. (Fingers crossed that they emerge before Summer!)

All very satisfying, but best of all was sitting on the back doorstep afterwards drinking a cup of tea, watching a robin check over all my diggings. He came right up to me, looked me straight in the eye, then went to drag wet leaves and soil out onto the path I'd just swept.

Being at the back of the house means I have the garden. However, if you step outside the front door of the house, you look into skyscapes like the one above. Gorgeous, isn't it? But it would be terrible for me. I'd sit and gaze all day and never get any work done.

I wasn't planning on moving house this year, but I seem to have found a good place to be.

Wishing everyone a happy and creative New Year. Ax

Abode

Soon, I'll have a new one of these.

It's all fallen into place very quickly, but I'm about to move house. I'll be just a couple of miles away across town in a place with a patio where I hope to do a spot of gardening and staring into space, in equal measures of course!

You can imagine, right now life is either a hectic whirl, or I'm collapsed in an exhausted heap. I've not been around in the blogging world much and posting has been low on the priority list, as has reading and commenting on other blogs.

Mind you, this might have saved you from the tedious tales about how it feels to be living in a small flat surrounded by empty boxes. Every night, I wish for them to miraculously pack themselves while I'm sleeping, but they are still empty when I fight my way past them in the mornings.

Anyway, I hope to be back soon to see what everyone's been creating.
In the meantime, hope you all have a happy and peaceful Christmas time!

See you soon. Ax

Ice shots

Click!

Unlike this iceman, I stood at the front door today, looked out from the top step and came back in again.

The road has turned to glass and a few brave people go by, trying not to fall over. Hills and ice are only good for one thing, I reckon. Downhill skiing. We don't go much in for that here. Although, I think maybe we should start training.

Wednesday night, it snowed like a scene on a Christmas card. It was so beautiful I turned the light off and watched it fall until I was half asleep.

It's the coldest day I have known and although it's great to see a deep blue sky, the sun is struggling to raise the degrees and everyone seems to have that holiday time-warp feeling of not knowing what day it is any more.

While the soup bubbled today, I took photos from inside, icicles being a new subject for me.

I'm hoping the temperature raises a little bit more. I need to practice some music. It's hard to play the fiddle with your gloves on.
