Today, it rained. Not just 10 weak drops. Proper rain. I have been waiting all week for it to sweep in. So have my courgettes. Anyway, now I am happy on 2 counts because I have just made and eaten a delicious courgette soup. I wanted to write my first 50 word piece today, so here it is - no surprises about the subject matter!
The breeze snatched at trees. I pulled a few hands of shallots from dusty soil, rubbed dirt from their skins. When the slanting rain began, I stepped into a colour jungle of golden fish mouth flowers intertwined with shocked orange nasturtiums to pick you. Then I ate you for lunch.

I'm loving the last line. I was not expecting that!

I think more than a little of your rain has washed my way, today looks a little bleached of colour in fact. But your 50 word piece was vivid indeed - 'fish mouth flowers' is a great phrase.
mmm, i can taste from here! 'colour jungle' I love this phrase...x
This 50 word business - wish I had known about it before. I can't quite believe that such a teeny piece has generated 3 responses so soon! Interesting to see what you have commented on.
I was rained out again at the plot today, sat in wet clothes writing in the shed, trying to keep the door open and look outside and seeing my ink running on the page. Five minutes later, it felt like the sun was going to bake me and I sat outside in the steam. I picked more courgettes and I'll make soup tomorrow, but I''ll write about something else!
